CoD V.1.7.0- Mysterious Ways...

All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.
-Winston Churchill

A few months ago, in facing a daunting obstacle in the pursuit of my purpose, I doubted the sovereign leading of my Lord. However, despite my lack of faith, my God was faithful and He came through to save the day.
I've recently learned of another, rather discouraging, happening: ever since my AIM orientation in October, I (and my team) have been eagerly anticipating our departure for Tanzania on May 9th, 2007 (15 days from today!). A little while ago, just over a week after I and many of my teammates had quit our jobs, we heard from our respective personnel departments that due to unusually heavy rains, incomplete housing and a couple of other issues, our departure date has been postponed to July 18th (85 days!).

God's ways are mysterious indeed, and doubly surprising because as I went about cancelling subscriptions and memberships such as my gym membership (which I'd joined sometime in 2004, but which coincidentally ended on May 9th), and my swimming membership (this one I took up in the spring of '05, but coincidentally, it expired on May 8th), I thought that date was magical! Whether I can understand His ways or not, however, I have learned from my mistake, and I doubt no longer. God is sovereign, and so good, and I have learned to trust Him completely.
If I am to stick around for an extra 70 days, then so be it. This gives all of you my blog-readers extra time to have me over for dinner! Or alternately, you could have me over several times for dinner! Yaaaay!

In continuation of my last post- on returning from New York I bummed around for a week, and was ready to go crazy (I have no idea how I would have handled an entire month, much less three), so I volunteered to help Sam, the personnel coordinator at the AIM office, until my departure date. The Canadian office is sending out several short-term teams to Kenya, Tanzania and Namibia this summer, so between orientations, working out logistics, and other go-fer duties, I should be kept well occupied.
Seeing as I'm around till July, I also figured I could start training and run some triathlons. The office is just over 40 kms away, so biking there and back should take good care of one third of the training (and it takes me about as long as driving would take me in rush-hour).

In other news, I have yet another team-member's picture to post up! This is Monica M from Texas. Between Monica, and my previously posted pictures, that's almost the whole team!

And this is how rainy it's been- that's my team-leader Tim, stuck in the mud: travel in the rainy season.

Here's a rainbow reaffirming God's covenant with the Zaramo

And lastly, another picture of Caleb- right in the centre.
